This divided candy or relish dish is decorated with the pearlescent edging of lustre ware or luster ware. It is marked in red, Made in Japan. It is probably from the 1930s but certainly not later than 1945. The bowl is 8 inches by 5. It has a little handle at the divide. The bottom of each section is cold painted with a flower pot on a line indicating a shelf or sill. In the photo it looks like the lustre is mostly worn away and while it is worn, the camera and flash have magnified it greatly. The dish is still quite presentable and is otherwise in perfect condition. It is quite sturdy porcelain.
