This doily or table mat is very fragile and has some damage. It is however a lovely old piece probably from 1910-1925 and deserves some TLC to make it displayable.
It is net lace and probably made from silk thread as it would pre-date synthetics. The design is scallops and curls of Battenburg type of lace.
The damage is not holes in the netting but separations of lace from net. A few stitches here and there will make it right.
Please note that even if new, this is a delicate doily.
It measures 8.5 by 13 inches.
