This small table mat was hand embroidered using the society silk technique (painting with thread). It is silk thread on silk with a rayon backing. The embroidery shows a bird on a flowering golden branch with an elaborate golden border. The bird and flowers are shades of teal blue. Background silk is a slightly orangish red.
The mat is 5.75 inches and in great condition.
Handled but probably never used except for display if that. Tag on the back says Golden Cloud No. 69-1001. Fabric content is 50% silk and 50% rayon, Hand embroidered. Made in China.
There are remains of a price sticker on the back. That isn't damage or stain.
