This box is a mystery to me. All I can really say with assurance is that it is a very imposing and decorative box that could serve numerous purposes.
I believe it is polished steel with a silvered interior. It is not marked as to material or country of origin. It is heavy weighing in at a kilo packed for shipping. The exterior is all done in a swirling repousse. The lid is lift up. There is one hinge at the back
It is oval and the dimensions are 5.5 x 7.7 and 2.5 inches deep including the depth of the lid.
This is an attractive way to hide small cluttery items you wish to keep handy, could be used for candy or nuts, or a crafty person could line it with velvet and use it for jewelry.
Condition is excellent on the exterior and construction, and very good on the inside. The silvery lining indicates this has been used.
That silvery circle in the center of the lid is just begging for your monogram.
