The J. R. Watkins company, which still exists, began in 1868 as a home based business making an all natural pain liniment. The company outgrew JR Watkins kitchen quickly and by 1894 the company had moved to a factory in Minnesota where it remains to this day however it is now a multi-national company with stores around the world and an online presence that has replaced the door-to-door Watkins Man, a man my mother relied on for spices, vanilla, and cleaning supplies.
Watkins produces a wide range of cleaning products, cooking ingredients, and beauty, body-care products. All are guaranteed to be 95% natural.
This book is kitchen history.
