Pete Apsit copyrighted this pig in 1993. It is made of plaster painted a flesh color with black spots and bubble gum pink snout and tongue. The eyes are inset, its tail curled although you can't see that as it is black on black. The hooves are brown.
The pig is very heavy plaster and is in great condition. The paint job may have been applied after manufacture. It is well done but I've never seen an Apsit painted all over. That is not to say they don't exist. They are exceedingly rare in any state.
The pig is just over 7 inches from snout to tail and is 6.5 inches tall. It has felt patches on its hooves to protect your furniture.
Pete Apsit lived from 1937 to 1999 and began his sculpting career carving fountains and large statues. His animal works are very detailed and are full of humor and evidence his love for them.
