This is an incredible find. 21 x 42 inches of handmade Bruges bobbin lace. This piece I call the winding road because of the serpentine path that snakes along both sides and ends. This path is connected by a honeycomb of picoted brides. The border is lacy scallops. I can find one flaw in this piece which is a dot of stain at one tip. (See photo.) I have small fingers so you can see how insignificant this is. This is ready to display on your buffet or dining table.
The color is flax or oatmeal and I have no idea as to age. It is all handmade and whether it was made in Bruges or by a lace-maker elsewhere, I can't say. As a note of interest, it takes about 3 days for an experienced lace maker to make a lace corner for a hanky.
Pictures 2-5 show each section of the runner.
